MU CHORALE (Fall 2015), Emilio Pichardo, baritone, and Madeline Heraty, soprano, singing Andrew Fischer’s arrangement of Bonse Aba. This was an impromptu recording used for the Music Education video on the Music Department website. Regret so much of the choir is out of the shot, but at least gives you get an idea of our “world music” sound.
All choirs rehearse in the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center (WVPAC)
ALL ensembles are open to ALL students, regardless of major.
University Choir and Chorale require an initial audition;
All interested Chorale members must re-audition in the Fall.
Women’s Choir and Glee Club do not require an audition.
Find more information and audition sign-up sheets at WVPAC 222.
Choral Auditions and First Week of Rehearsals:
Rehearsals begin immediately during the first week of classes of each semester. Whether you’ve auditioned or not — and remember Women’s Choir and Glee Club do not require an audition — you should attend ALL rehearsals of the choir(s) you’d like to join during the first week. This way you can learn more about the repertoire to be learned, the organization, the total program and the commitment involved.
Be sure to sign up for an audition by Friday at the end of the first week of the semester, though auditions during the second week are also possible. Choir lists will be posted by the beginning of the second week of classes.
Cantilena Women’s Choir (Spring 2016) performs Gjeilo’s Tundra, and then is joined by Marauder Men’s Glee Club to sing Whitacres’s A Boy and A Girl during Spring 2016 Concert: Transparent Luminosity.
