On May 5, 2018, Millersville University Choirs (University Choir, University Chorale, Cantilena Women’s Choir, and Marauder Men’s Glee Club) gathered as a Choral Union to perform Carl Orff’s dramatic Carmina Burana in two performances (4 & 7:30 PM). The c.140 voices in the Choral Union were joined by three outstanding guest vocalists: Joseph Wiggett, baritone, from California State University, Stanislaus; Jessica Beebe, soprano, from Franklin and Marshall College; and Stephen Ng, tenor, from West Chester University. MU faculty instrumentalists included Xun Pan (piano), Kyu Rhee (piano), James Armstrong (percussion), and Dan Heslink, emeritus, (percussion). Student percussionists included Joe Codispodi, Joe Greeby, Chris O’Leary, and Ben Snyder. Kleiner choirs include the MU Chorale (Coro piccolo) and the Mennonite Children’s Choir of Lancaster (MCCL) Concert Choir (Ragazzi), Sarah Wingard, director. The total length of the entire work required four separate videos for upload to YouTube. The static image is secondary to the high quality of sound recorded by the Zoom Q2n Handy Video Recorder we used to capture the acoustical-emotional thrill of this concert. Enjoy!
